Alcoutim Câmara has extended the provision of a lunchtime meal to pre-school children in the council. The municipality said the decision followed the significant increase in family poverty due to the crisis and means that now all schoolchildren, from nursery to secondary school, totalling 200, can benefit from a free nutritious meal. Scholarships amounting to €1,000, funding of €300 per classroom for school equipment and free extracurricular sporting activities are also made available by the câmara.
