MORE THAN 60 people attended an investment seminar organised by HSBC International Financial Advisers last Thursday.

In the first of four seminars from the bank, Michael Whitehead, Ian Boden and Tim Sullivan discussed the various services that they could offer expatriates living in Portugal, including the advantages of choosing HSBC and the investments they could offer.

Key to their discussion was holistic financial planning services, meaning individual circumstances are considered. When a client is keen to invest for the future, independent wealth managers like Ian Boden create individual portfolios based on personal circumstances and profiles. The amount of risk the client is willing to take is key to designing this individual portfolio.

Special guest speaker John Duggan from Price Water House Cooper discussed tax laws and what constituted a tax residence. The advantages of this were discussed in terms of exemptions that are available to residents. He discussed capital gains tax, annuity income and rental income in terms of requirements for tax, exemptions and reductions.

The next seminar is due to take place in the next few months. For more information, email [email protected] or call 0035 623 242 803.
