Investigation mounted after young woman drowns in Tejo after night out

PJ police have mounted an investigation after the body of a 22-year-old woman was pulled from the Tejo following a night out with friends. Carolina Santiago appears to have fallen in to the water, shortly before 8am yesterday. She was in the company of a male friend who tried in vain to reach her before dialling 112. A team of divers was quickly dispatched, but to no avail. Psychological support has been given to the young woman’s parents, her boyfriend – who had not accompanied her on the night out – and the friend who witnessed the tragedy.
