My opinion is that apart from direct communication advances (email, WhatsApp), there is nothing genuinely useful about the internet that can’t be gained from pre-internet sources; it’s just quicker (lazier in most cases!).
However, my deep concern is for the generations ahead that will know nothing else. The vulnerable and weaker-minded that are force-fed impossible life-attainment goals via Twitter and Instagram…
Digitally-enhanced images of themselves exacerbating the falseness of their existence…. subsequently developing their ‘image’ into identical clones of each other.
Endless misinformation clogging the social media pages, causing division and paranoia.
The destruction of the music and film industry due to downloads (Spotify, YouTube).
Do we really need it?
