The 1st International Meeting of the Portuguese Water Dog is taking place in the Algarve between September 25 and 29.
If you would like to see these clever dogs at work, then go along to Praia do Barril in Tavira. The show day is on Sunday, September 29 at the Pedras D’el Rei Resort, with a match show exclusively for Portuguese dogs at 10.30am, the ‘Monografica’, a national specialty with all dogs from around the world, at 2pm and a parade of all the Portuguese Champion Dogs afterwards.
People and dogs from all over the world will be participating in the meeting, with countries visitingincluding the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Russia, Australia and Brazil, not forgetting of course Portugal’s own Portuguese Water Dogs.
Meanwhile, on October 5, a national competition for the Portuguese Water Dog is being held at the Cais da Solaria in Lagos from 2pm.
The event is being organised by Casa da Buba, a Portuguese Water Dog breeder in Lagos, in association with APCAP, the association for Portuguese Water Dogs, Royal Canin pet food company and Lagos municipal authority.
