International Jazz Day celebrated in Albufeira

Singer Paula Oliveira performs with the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve on April 30.

Albufeira is celebrating International Jazz Day at the municipal auditorium. From 18:00 on April 30, Jazz singer Paula Oliveira is performing After You’ve Gone with the Orquestra de Jazz do Algarve, a concert where there will be no shortage of great classics. The ensemble will perform songs such as Come Rain or Come Shine, Fly Me to The Moon, Let the Good Times Roll, and more 80’s sounds like This Masquerade.

In a press release, the Municipality of Albufeira explains, “Paula Oliveira is an inevitable jazz singer on the national jazz scene, with an enviable career in Portugal and beyond”.

The singer studied at the Hot Club de Portugal, the Taller de Musics in Barcelona and the Manhattan School of Music (New York), where she resided. Her list of mentors includes names such as Phil Woods, Norma Winston and Reggie Workman, among others. From Jazz to Portuguese music, she has already released various albums.

Admission to the concert is free (subject to room capacity). Tickets must be picked up at the Municipal Auditorium on the day of the show between 16:30 and 17:45.
