Lagoa’s International Guitar Festival is back for its eight edition, bringing several talented guitar players to the borough until October 1.
The first two performances took place last weekend, with Alice Brandão and Bail’a Rir opening the festival at the Carvoeiro amphitheatre on Saturday and Carlos Piñana Cuarteto and José Manuel Neto Trio taking the stage at Quinta dos Vales wine estate in Estômbar on Sunday.
Festivities will continue this weekend with Ensemble de Guitares Copla and Couple Coffee due to perform at Sítios das Fontes in Estômbar on Saturday at 5.30pm, followed by Eduardo Ramos Ensemble and Marc Planells Trio who will bring their talents to the Calvário Amphitheatre, also at 5.30pm.
The town of Lagoa will host two evenings of concerts, the first featuring Duo Cantiga and Quartetomás at the Igreja Matriz on Friday, September 24 at 7pm, followed by Mascara Quartet and Trio In Breve at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium on Saturday, September 25 at 5.30pm.
The closing concert is planned for October 1 and will see O Gajo and Mariachi Sol de Lisboa bring the festival to an end at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa at 7pm.
The festival is organised by Lagoa Council and the Algarve Guitar Association. Tickets cost €8 per person (except for the September 24 performance which will be free to attend) and can be purchased online at ticketline.pt or at Fnac, Worten, the São José convent or Lagoa’s Balcão Único.
