International Gourmet Festival 2013

Since the first “Tribute to Claudia” festival was held at Vila Joya in 2007 the event has continued to grow in every sense. But when the usual January dates were cancelled this year, many of us feared that the pervading economic climate may have put paid to what had become Portugal’s most important gastronomic event and, indeed, a gourmet fixture of international importance.

But with the dates now set from November 7 to 17 this year, we will be seeing the most amazing line-up of international chefs yet.

Hailing from Portugal, Brazil, Sweden, the UK, Holland, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy and Thailand, the 10-day event will see some of the world’s most famous chefs cooking at Vila Joya. There will also be off-site events held at both the Conrad Algarve in Quinta do Lago and at the Malhadinha Nova wine estate in the Alentejo.

Some nights are already sold out, amongst them November 10 with the world’s number 1 chef Joan Roca from Spain from El Celler de Can Roca.

Other nights already sold out at the time of press are Sweden’s Björn Frantzénm on November 9 and the opening night on the 7th when Vila Joya’s Dieter Koschina will cook with the Brazil-based Japanese chef Tsuyoshi Murakami.

Another night expected to sell out in the next few days is ‘One night in Bangkok’ on the 15th, featuring some of Thailand’s most famous chefs, flown in especially from Bangkok.

Each dinner or lunch will entail a multi-course menu priced at either €350 or €400 per person (wine and Champagne reception included). For full and updated details visit the website:
