VARIOUS CITIES throughout the Algarve will be involved in hosting the 10th International Contemporary Dance Festival “a sul”, which begins on September 15 and continues until October 21, featuring dancers from all over the world. For the first time ever, dancers from Japan will be taking part in the festival.
The festival is a joint production from Faro Municipal Theatre, cultural activities association Fundo do Fundo and the five councils which are involved in the hosting of this event: Faro, Lagos, Loulé, Lagoa and Vila Real de Santo António.
As per last year, an extension of the festival will be held in Lisbon, to include shows at the Centro Cultural de Belém, Teatro da Trindade, Teatro da Comuna and Teatro Taborda, which aim to give the event a higher profile.
The festival comes to the Centro de Artes Performativas do Algarve in Faro on September 15 and 16 and also on October 13. The Auditório Municipal de Lagoa will receive “a sul” on September 16 and 17, as well as on October 6. On September 23 and 29, it is the turn of the Cine-Teatro de Loulé followed by the Auditório do Centro Cultural de Lagos on September 30. On October 7, contemporary dance will be lighting up the Centro Cultural António Aleixo, in Vila Real de Santo António and the Teatro das Figuras, in Faro on October 21.
All shows begin at 9.30pm. Tickets are priced from five to 10 euros each and can be purchased from the venues directly. For further information, call Fundo do Fundo on 289 824 783
