Former PSP national director Magina da Silva is off to Paris

Intensity in violence when it comes to crime is increasing, warns PSP chief

Magina da Silva, the national director of the PSP police force has warned today of an increase in the intensity of violence in which crimes are committed. Crime, per se, is not increasing – but the tendency for using potentially lethal weapons, and “the force to seriously injure” are. In this context, he said he is all for government proposals to regulate the use of CCTV cameras and enable agents with ‘bodycams’. Both represent fundamental tools for police not just to help prevent crime, but to identify those involved when it happens.
