A protest against the alleged torture of detainees in Portugal’s prisons took place on Tuesday in Lisbon. Relatives of inmates protested outside Lisbon prison establishment against the “practice of torture” and “violation of human rights”. Supporting the protest was the Association Against Exclusion (ACED), the Prisons Intervention Group and the Portuguese Association for the Prevention of Torture. Other complaints from inmates include the lack of hygiene, food and healthcare.
