Mortimer Folchart and his 12-year old daughter Meggie share a passion for books, and have the unique gift of bringing characters from books to life when they read aloud. Unfortunately for every character that comes to life, a real person disappears into the pages of the book. On one trip to a second-hand bookshop, Mortimer hears a voice he has not heard in years and when he locates the book it is coming from, the real adventure begins. Mortimer and Meggie set out on a rescue mission with many dark turns along the way.
