An injured seal was sighted at Albufeira’s fishing port on Sunday.
Reports Correio da Manhã, the seal was checked by biologists and veterinarians from Guia theme park Zoomarine and was found to have injuries on its nose and abdomen.
However, the national forest and nature conservation institute (ICNF) reportedly ordered against the rescue and treatment of the seal, which has since returned to sea.
“We can only intervene if the animal shows severe signs of illness,” Zoomarine biologist Antonieta Nunes told CM.
