A GNR police officer badly injured in an accidental explosion of gunpowder at the Tavira rifle shooting range in 2007 has been awarded €79,000 compensation.
The 43-year-old officer was part of a team of four which was called in to de-activate the explosives which had been extracted from artificialpyrotechnics and had been apprehendedin Alvor. Tragically, the sergeant of the group died and his three colleagues were injured.
The officer awarded damages had been unable to continue his career because of incapacities of nearly 80%.
