Inflation for July confirmed at 9.1%

“The year-on-year change in the CPI (Consumer Price Index) was 9.1% in July, up 0.4 percentage points on the previous month and the highest since November 1992,” statistics institute INE has said today, confirming figures it put forwards at the end of last month. The underlying inflation indicator (total index excluding unprocessed foodstuffs and energy) has also accelerated, registering a variation of 6.2% (up 0.2% from June). The change in the energy index was 31.2%, 0.5 percentage points lower than the previous month, while the unprocessed food index was 13.2% (11.9% in June).
