The year-on-year rate of change of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) fell to 9.6% in December from 9.9% in November, according to a flash estimate released today by INE statistics institute. As INE explains, 9.6% is 0.3 percentage points below the rate for November. If the flash estimate is confirmed – definitive figures will be published on 11 January – this will be the third fall in inflation in a year and a half, after August and November recorded the only falls since June 2021.
