Inflation falls for 5th consecutive month

Inflation in Portugal has dropped to 7.4%. This March reading means inflation has reduced consecutively over the last five months. The percentage in February, for instance, was 8.2%. It is ‘good news’, but it is also not an end to rising prices: they are simply rising less quickly now. Inflation across the eurozone is equally falling – down to an average of 6.9%, following February’s 8.5%. Countries are still very diversely affected: Luxembourg, Spain and Holland, for example are on 3%, 3.1% and 4.5% respectively, while Baltic States like Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia are struggling with much higher levels, namely 15.2%, 15.6% and 17.3% respectively.
