No date has been stipulated, but minister of state for the presidency Mariana Vieira da Silva said today that the government will be meeting with the experts at INFARMED who have been advising policy through the pandemic “within the next few weeks”. Once the vaccination process has hit the target of 85% of the population fully-vaccinated (ie by the end of this month), the meeting will be convened. The timing will coincide perfectly with political schedules (municipal elections are on September 26). In other words, once the elections are over, the way will be clear for the meeting to decide Portugal’s pandemic approach into the autumn.
