PORTUGAL’S NATIONAL medical emergency service, INEM, has a new president.
Abílio Gomes took office on February 18 and is a cardiologist who served as a doctor in the military. He was appointed by Portugal’s Health Minister, Ana Jorge.
Before taking on this new role, Abílio Gomes worked in the human resources and military recruitment department of the Portuguese Ministry of Defence.
He also worked in Belém’s military hospital as well as being the director of the Portuguese association for cardiovascular diseases.
