Starting up – the best and the brightest businesses in the Algarve
Specialising in contemporary Indian design and style, the recently opened Cinnamon is a new and interesting shop in Lagos which is perfect for gifts, or even if you just feel like a treat.
The daughter of a dressmaker who made bridal gowns for Iranian princesses, Roxanne Parker chose to follow her family’s tradition of creativity and open the shop in order to bring some of the exquisite specialities found in northern India to the Algarve. Specialising exclusively in exotic furnishings and artefacts, Cinnamon has a wide variety of hand crafted items to indulge the senses.
As well as a plentiful selection of Indian-style home furnishings, the shop also offers an eclectic mix of candles, incense and sensual oils, lights and lamps, and a new and interesting selection of handmade stationary.
India is renowned for its jewellery, so Cinnamon stocks an impressive range, alongside soft shawls, stylish sandals and beaded handbags. The majority of Cinnamon’s stock is imported from the northern region of Rajasthan – an area famous for handicrafts.
Roxanne, who decided to quit her hectic London lifestyle three years ago, says: “The whole idea of Cinnamon is to provide exclusively handmade items that you cannot find elsewhere in the Algarve. I have concentrated on the modern, rather than the traditional style, with the accent on quality of design and exhilarating colours and smells.”
You’ll find Cinnamon a couple of minutes from the Chairs roundabout, between the old and new Lidl supermarkets in Lagos – lote 31, Rua Francisco Xavier Ataide. For more information call 282 763 235.
