ACAP, the Portuguese automobile association has studied the impact of the government’s decision to increase ISV (vehicle tax) on various types of vehicles, and calculates that the decision will add an average of €10,000 to the cost of a new motorhome, before the additional 23% IVA. The tax increase was approved in ‘generality’ last Friday, but its final approval is guaranteed, explain reports, because of the government’s absolute majority. The taxation increase will affect particularly the sectors of tourism and catering, says ACAP’s secretary general Hélder Pedro, who plans to appeal to the government to reconsider before the final voting.
