FIFTY-FOUR teams, including one from the Spanish border, took part in the inaugural Aljezur charity boules tournament on November 23.
The tournament, hosted by AMOVATE, the Association of Residents and Friends of Vale da Telha, was staged to raise funds for local children’s charities, and is to become an annual event. Competition among the teams was intense and the tournament ran for almost 12 hours, finishing under floodlights before the victors emerged triumphant, winning a tight final 13-11 to claim the first prize of a large pig and a ham.
