In Memory

Les Gray, singer with the band Mud, has died after a long battle with cancer. Les, 57, had two heart attacks and was rushed to hospital in the Algarve, where he lived for 12 years. The glam rock star, who shot to fame in the ‘70s, died last Saturday night.

Mud had three number one hits – Tiger Feet, Oh Boy and Lonely This Christmas. Les was also a talented Elvis impersonator and interpreted several of the King’s songs. Although he had throat cancer and could no longer sing, he had been planning to attend a charity concert in Glasgow, along with Bay City Roller, Les McKeown, and rocker, Alvin Stardust, in order to introduce the bands. His widow Carol said: “People liked Les because he was so down to earth. He loved performing.”
