In celebration of Burns

THE ST. ANDREW’S Society of Lisbon, in conjunction with The Single Malt Whisky Society of Portugal, is holding an evening in Celebration of Burns, to take place on Friday, January 28, at the Restaurant Club de Golfe da BelaVista in Lisbon at 8pm for 8.30pm. The festivities will commemorate the 246th anniversary of the birth of Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns.

A five-course dinner of traditional fare, with the haggis to be piped in by the society’s very own Malcolm MacGillivray, will be accompanied by tastings of fine Scottish malt whiskies to be introduced by the world’s greatest ‘whisky noser’, Martine Noeut. As usual, excess calories consumed at the dinner can be shed during the Scottish country dancing that will follow. The music will be provided by the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, which will be flying in from Scotland for the evening. The Immortal Memory will be ‘performed’ by John Goodwin.

All Scots, society members and their guests are welcome to join what promises to be an unforgettable evening. Tickets cost 32 euros per person (dress: kilts or lounge suits). As space is limited, contact Chieftain David Wilkie (963 700 929), Theresa Adams (912 306 353), Iain O’ Donnell (919 788 736), Eva Sanches (917 300 345) or email [email protected] as early as possible, to reserve your place. The event is sponsored by Prime Drinks.
