Improved gastronomy offer at Fatacil 2012

Plenty of gastronomic delights will be waiting to tantalise your taste buds at the 23rd Fatacil fair in Lagoa, to be held from August 17 to 26.

Organisers have confirmed the presence of new restaurants, not only from the Algarve region, but also from the Azores, Beira Baixa, Alentejo and Ribatejo. Dishes using a variety of meats from Portuguese cattle breeds, such as Marinhoa and Brava Taurina, will feature highly on the menu.

Visitors to the fair will also be able to taste and purchase some of the best Algarve wines, which will be available from the producers themselves at a purposely created ‘wine pavilion’.

The concert programme will open with fado by singers Teresa Tapadas and Cuca Roseta (August 17), followed by music from a variety of Portuguese artists each evening such as rapper Boss AC (18), Aurea (25) and Paulo Gonzo (26).

Arts and crafts from around 170 artisans from all over Portugal are again expected to delight visitors, who will be able to purchase unique handmade items.

Equestrian shows this year will follow the theme ‘Lusitano Horse and Fado’, with choreographies each night representing these two world recognised examples of Portuguese cultural heritage.

Tickets to the show cost €5 per person or €15 for a family ticket (four people). Children up to the age of 12 enter for free.
