Between August 2 and 20, the Praia do Peneco tunnel will feature art, music and culture with “O Infinito da Noite”.
August nights come to life with “O Infinito da Noite” (The Infinity of Night). From August 2 to 20, the access tunnel to Praia do Peneco, one of the most iconic beaches in Albufeira, will host a digital art installation by Tamara Alves and Shaka Lion, announced the municipality.
The initiative, an immersive artistic installation using video-mapping projections on the tunnel’s walls, was developed exclusively for this location and can be visited daily between 20:00 and midnight.
In addition to this installation, the programme also includes two ‘DJ sets’ with Portuguese-Brazilian musical artist Shaka Lion on August 2 and 18 (22:00). The concerts featuring various musical styles, such as reggae, dub, jazz and hip-hop, bring together art, music and culture in a single place.
“Activating and diversifying the cultural offer of the city, creating a context for visitors to interact with art, in a unique, multisensory and immersive format, leveraging a high moment of tourism in the region and fostering the search for the municipality’s historical and cultural symbols, is also a way of promoting Albufeira and renewing the city’s points of interest”, underlines José Carlos Rolo, mayor of Albufeira.
Tamara Alves is a visual artist and illustrator recognised nationally for her language inspired by urban aesthetics in drawing, painting or ceramic works.
The event is organised by the municipality of Albufeira in partnership with Ephemeral/Ethernal, a platform focused on exploring the intersection of physical and digital art, and Iminente, an initiative that works with emerging and established artists in the field of urban cultures.
