An undercover report by the BBC in London found that Romanian cleaners employed by the four star Kensington Close Hotel have been posing as Portuguese nationals with forged papers to gain employment.
In the report, one cleaner is heard saying that they paid 190 pounds sterling for false Portuguese identity cards while another claimed that she knew of arout 30 illegal cleaners who had bought forged paperwork.
A spokesman for the hotel told the BBC that they been the “victim of a scam” and had “complied with the UK Border Agency’s procedure for checking documents.”
