An illegal phone mast placed in the Vale do Covo area of Carvoeiro, Lagoa council, was removed this week.
Work was said to have started on Monday, October 24, with the structure being finally removed on Tuesday, October 25, confirmed residents of the neighbouring vicinities.
The mast was placed by the Estrada do Farol road without warning in 2010, causing immediate discontent within the local community.
Owners in the area complained about the negative impact the mast would have on the value of their properties as well as the possible effects of radiation emitted from the structure. They took prompt action by creating a petition for the removal of the mast and handing it into Lagoa Câmara.
The Algarve Resident contacted Lagoa Câmara but no one was available to comment.
