An association of nightclub owners in the Algarve has highlighted the growing number of nightclubs planning to open illegally in the region this summer.
The Associação de Discotecas do Sul e Algarve (ADSA) claims several restaurants and bars are preparing to open nightclubs within their premises, ignoring laws governing nightclubs and avoiding taxes.
A spokesman for ADSA alerted the authorities to the financial difficulties that many of its associates are facing in the region and how illegal nightclubs and unfair competition only add further strain to an already “unbearable situation”.
