Ilha Deserta’s Estaminé restaurant reopens four months after being destroyed by fire

Faro’s Ilha Deserta restaurant Estaminé reopened on Sunday (August 1), four months after it was completely destroyed in a fire. The announcement was made by the company that manages it, Animaris, which says that “essential services” have been resumed.

“The access boardwalks are already built, the WCs and showers are available to beachgoers and the Estaminé restaurant is again serving drinks and meals,” the company said.

The reconstruction project is not yet finished as “some areas are still undergoing works”.

Sunbeds can now be rented, and the beach is manned by lifeguards.

“We are finally seeing some light,” said Isabel Vicente, manager and owner of Estaminé. “After the fire in March, we were planning to reopen on July 1, but we have been unable to fulfil our promise due to the situation we are currently living.”

The goal was to make the restaurant look as close as possible to the previous building, while the menu continues to focus on fresh fish and seafood, the company added.
