A gigantic designer outlet offering 110 stores running “permanent discounts of up to 70%” on “big fashion and lifestyle brands” is promised for the IKEA mega complex under construction in Loulé.
The huge complex is set to cover a 17,000sqm area and is billed to open in the summer of 2017.
According to a press release from PR company Pure Ativism the complex will be managed by ROS Retail Outlet Shopping, an Austrian designer outlet operator.
ROS managing director Thomas Reichenauer is quoted as saying: “The attractiveness and touristic potential of the Algarve offer the right conditions for this outlet to be a success”.
“Combining the IKEA store with an offer of fashion and lifestyle brands as well as a leisure area will make this (complex) a must-visit location in Portugal,” he added, stressing that his company is “very proud to be a part of this unique project”.
While the region’s retailers are still doing everything they can to halt construction of the IKEA complex, the Swedish retail giant is just as determined to press ahead – agreeing that this latest collaboration will help make its plan “a unique shopping experience”.
The €200 million project for Loulé’s IKEA store is expected to create around 3,000 jobs and be open as soon as next year. The rest of the 85,000sqm complex is expected to open the year later.
