If, if, if… variables could see Portugal’s vaccination programme extend into 2022

Addressing the parliamentary health commission today, vaccine task force coordinator vice admiral Henrique Gouveia e Melo admitted that so much depends on Europe’s supply-chain which is constantly buffeted by changes and hiccups in manufacturers’ commitments. If these changes and hiccups go on, and if Portugal continues to receive less in the way of doses than originally forecast, Gouveia e Melo opened the possibility of the nation’s vaccination programme having to extend into 2022 before it reaches everyone who wants to be vaccinated.
