Cultural association Ideias do Levante is organising two Christmas concerts in Lagoa this month.
The first will feature Dell’Acqua and the Ideias do Levante choir and will take place this Sunday (December 8) at Lagoa’s main church (Igreja Matriz) at 5pm.
Dell’Acqua is a group of three talented musicians including Carla Pontes (soprano), Grace Borgan (flute) and Cristiana Silva (piano). Together with the Ideias do Levante choir, which will be conducted by Vera Batista, they will interpret works by John Rutter, Georg Friedrich Händel, Camille Saint-Saëns and many others.
Entrance to the concert is free and is recommended for adults and children over six years old. The church seats 250 people.
This performance will be followed by another Christmas concert by the Ideias do Levante choir on Sunday, December 15 at the São José convent.
Founded in 1996, the Coral Ideias do Levante has performed all over the Iberian Peninsula and hosts several performances and events, including the well-known Lagoa Choir Week.
The choir aims to not only improve itself but also promote cultural activities in Lagoa and the Algarve through choir music.
It interprets a wide and eclectic range of music and rehearses every Wednesday between 8pm and 10pm at the Centro de Estudos e Formação de Lagoa (CEFLA).
The concert, which will start at 5pm, is free but tickets must be picked up at the municipal auditorium or the convent. There is a maximum capacity of 90 people.
Both concerts are organised with the support of Lagoa Council and the Lagoa and Carvoeiro Parish Union.
