Hunters in Portugal to be banned from using club to bludgeon prey

Environment minister João Pedro Matos Fernandes has announced that revision of Portugal’s legislation regulating hunting will eliminate the ‘stick/ club’ (‘pau’) as a permitted tool for culling prey. The revision has been precipitated by the ‘massacre’ at a private estate in Azambuja last year (click here). Further revelations will come mid-April following the meeting of the National Hunting Council.
