PRIME MINISTER José Sócrates joined hundreds of literature fans to honour Portuguese Nobel Literature Prize winner José Saramago at the opening of an exhibition dedicated to his life and work in Lisbon.

The exhibition, José Saramago – A Consistência dos Sonhos (The Consistency of Dreams), will run at the Dom Luís Painting Gallery at Palácio Nacional da Ajuda until July 27.

José Sócrates said that the Portuguese government took great pride in all he had done for the Portuguese language and literature.

The elderly author of the Stone Raft, who also received a letter of congratulations from Spanish Prime Minister José Luís Zapatero, thanked his invited guests.
