Human bones found wrapped in newspaper in Oeiras

Investigations are ongoing into the macabre find of various human bones wrapped in newspaper on scrub ground in Oeiras (Lisbon outskirts). The bones included a jawbone, “several ribs”, “at least one tibia and a peroneum” (small bone in the foot). There were also some “smaller bones”, say reports. The finds are now with forensic specialists at the Institute of Legal Medicine, while PJ police conduct further inquiries. It is just possible the bones were taken from Oeiras cemetery, which is roughly three kms from the spot where the various wrapped packages were discovered – but for the moment, no-one can be sure.
