Human bed warming service

Hotel operator Holiday Inn was due to offer clients a free five minute bed warming service at its London Kensington hotel this week.

If requested, a willing member of hotel staff will jump in your bed, dressed head to foot in an all-in-one sleeper suit, until a client’s bed warms up.

Jane Bednall, a spokeswoman for Holiday Inn, which operates more than 4,000 hotels worldwide, said: “It’s like having a giant hot water bottle in your bed.”

According to Dr Chris Idzikowski, director of the Edinburgh Sleep Centre, the idea of giving clients a warm bed is a good way to start the sleep process whereas a cold bed would inhibit sleep.
