Friday, May 17 was another red-letter day for the HPA health group which runs private hospitals and clinics throughout the Algarve.
Late in the afternoon, the new Hospital Particular da Madeira was inaugurated in the presence of the regional president of the island, the Mayor of Funchal and other dignitaries.
It is a project that cost around €42 million and offers “the most modern and differentiated Private Health Unit in the region of Madeira”.

Said the press release preceding the launch, one of the operating theatres is a ‘hybrid’ “equipped with state-of-the-art technology for surgical procedures in cardiology, vascular surgery, neurosurgery and numerous other medical and surgical specialities”.
As far as complementary diagnostic examinations are concerned, the new HPM, as it will be known, will offer “almost total coverage with a highlight on its modern clinical analyses laboratory as well as its modern imagiology unit, with the latest generation MRI, CT scan, mammography, ultrasound and digital x-ray.
