How lucky are Algarve Bowlers?

We have reached the end of our season without too many stoppages due to poor weather, and this last week has not proved to be any different.

Thursday, February 21 was the penultimate matches in our Super 10’s competition. Results and final table next week.

Saturday, February 23 was the exciting finale to our Winter League competition. A beautiful day and a fitting end to our schedule. Congratulations must go to the club at Floresta for winning both Leagues A and B. In League A, Valverde Vipers took all eight points from Floresta Rangers; Alvor Scorpions and Valverde Vulcans shared the points with four each; Tavira Tigers won one point from Pedras Panthers who won seven; whilst Floresta Foresters won six points from Albufeira Cats who won two. In League B, Balaia Pods took six points from Alvor Rooks, winning two; Floresta Huntsmen won all eight points from Alvor Amigos; Alvor Greens won six points from Balaia Whalers, winning two; Valverde Vikings were the resting team this week.

This means Floresta Foresters are top of League A, with 79 points, Valverde Vulcans in second place with 76 points, and Albufeira Cats in third place, with Tavira Tigers at the bottom of this table with 32 points. In League B, Floresta Huntsmen are top with 58 points, Valverde Vikings and Alvor Amigos are in second place with 54 points each, and Alvor Rooks at the bottom of this league on 32 points.

Congratulations to Floresta, but well done to all the clubs and players. Matches were always played in the true spirit of the game, competitively but in a friendly manner. And showing how professional our Algarve Bowlers are, being able to switch from grass to carpet and back again, is never an easy task to ask of anyone, but they are all able to do it.
