New housing protests to take place on January 27

A protest against Portugal’s housing crisis organised by the ‘Casa para Viver’ (House to Live In) group will take place in 20 confirmed cities and towns across the country on January 27, including Faro, Lagos, Portimão and Tavira in the Algarve.

The group says it was able to “put pressure on the government last year” but that it is still “not enough.

“There is a huge housing problem and we feel it getting worse,” spokesperson Rita Silva told Lusa news agency.
