House arrest

Maria Fernanda, the owner of the Paraiso da Música bar in Alcalar, Portimão who is under preventive custody during her trial, for running a prostitution ring and using illegal imigrants has asked to be put under house arrest instead (See The Resident, October 12).

During the latest hearing at Portimão court on November 8, her lawyer said: “The reasons for my client remaining in preventive custody have been substantially altered and diminished.” He asked that Maria Fernanda be put under house arrest with an electronic tagging system instead.

A SEF inspector also gave evidence in court that he witnessed two couples engaged in sexual activities when he had inspected the bar.
