Hotels in Vigo, Galiza, in the north of Portugal, paid for guests’ motorway toll charges in order to attract more visitors for New Year’s Eve.
Following a significant fall in occupancy (60%) from Portuguese visitors during the Christmas period, hoteliers decided to deduct the €9 guests would pay for taking the A28 road between Porto and Vigo from their New Year packages.
