Hotel occupancy

Hotel occupancy in the Algarve was down 8.3 per cent in July, compared to the same month in 2008, according to statistics released by the association for hotels and tourist developments of the Algarve (AHETA).

Occupancy in Carvoeiro and Armação de Pêra fell by 13.9 per cent, with Praia da Rocha and Albufeira also recording falls.

Monte Gordo and Vila Real de Santo António recorded the highest hotel occupancy rate with 90.3 per cent, while Faro and Olhão registered the lowest occupancy with 57 per cent of spaces filled.
