Hotel occupancy

Hotel occupancy was down by 15.8 per cent in October compared to the same month in 2008, according to statistics released by the association for hotels and tourist developments of the Algarve (AHETA).

Sagres, Praia da Rocha, Faro and Olhão recorded the greatest falls in occupancy rates, with no increase recorded anywhere in the region compared to 2008.

Monte Gordo in Vila Real de Santo António registered the highest rate of occupancy at 62.2 per cent, while Praia da Rocha registered the lowest with 37 per cent of spaces filled.
