Hotel evacuated in Portimão due to fire

Forty-five people were evacuated from Hotel Algarve in Praia da Rocha (Portimão) on Thursday morning due to a fire that broke out in a fifth-floor room.
The blaze was reported at 9.41am but had already been put out by 9.50am.

Portimão fire commander Richard Marques said that the firefighting efforts were made easier given the promptness of the hotel staff in the evacuation procedure.
The fire started in one of the hotel rooms and destroyed a sofa. Firefighters had to ventilate the area with special equipment due to the smoke. No casualties were reported.

PJ police are investigating the cause of the fire.
