The Portimão Motor Park is the venue for the first official World Superbike and Supersport Championship test until today (Friday).
The three-day session is regarded as vital by the resident Parkalgar Honda team, which returns to action following a three month lay-off, boasting two new riders in Sam Lowes and James Ellison alongside ‘old hand’ Miguel Praia.
Most importantly, the two-time championship runner-ups, who are determined to top the leader board this year, need to see where they stand in relation to the competition at this stage of pre-season preparations.
“This will represent a huge step towards race readiness,” Praia said prior to taking to the track.
The new season will get under way in Australia on February 27 and reaches its climax back at the Portimão Motor Park on October 16.
