A campaign has been launched by the Barlavento Hospital to encourage tourists to the region to contribute to hospital services after they have enjoyed their holiday here.
The ‘5 star Algarve for 5 Euros’ campaign asks for those who have enjoyed “the glamour, the beauty, the sun and the sea of the Algarve” to say a thank you to the residents of the region by donating five Euros to the hospital to help fund the purchasing of mobility equipment, including wheelchairs and crutches.
A spokesman from the Barlavento Hospital said: “Every day we are confronted with critical situations that require mobility assistance, particularly from elderly members of the community who do not have the resources to afford such equipment. It is within this context that we are asking for donations through this summer campaign.”
The initiative is being supported by Rotary Club Praia da Rocha and Delta Cafes and donations can be made to the campaign by direct bank transfer through NIB 078101120112001184125.
