A horse and hound show is to be held at Pinetrees Riding Centre in Almancil on Sunday.
For dogs, there will be different classes to show off their skills, characters and looks, while later in the day horses and riders will be able to team up with dogs and handlers to complete an obstacle course against the clock.
Beverly Gibbons from the centre said: “People can contact us if they are having trouble finding a pair to team up with. On the day, we will match spare dogs and handlers with spare riders and horses.”
Refreshments will also be available, organised by volunteers from the Riding for the Disabled charity.
The event is due to start at 4pm, with entry costing five euros per person with a dog or horse.
“Funds raised from the entry fee will be donated to two Algarve charities, Horse Rescue Line, operated by the Algarve Riding Club, and a programme set up by pet hotel Merrylegs to spay and re-home strays,” said Beverly Gibbons.
Spectators are welcome to watch the event.
