Horse semen: one of the perks of bilateral trade agreements

Announcing a new agreement between Colombia and Portugal, the Colombian Agricultural Institute has revealed that “Portugal is interested in exporting stallion semen”, as well as other more run-of-the-mill produce like poultry, pork and fruits. In exchange, Colombia could export coffee, fruits, flowers and tuna to Portugal, he said.
Luis Humberto Martinez Lacouture, general manager of the institute, and the Portuguese ambassador João Ribeiro de Almeida have thus agreed to expedite the study of various measures that would fast-track a trade agreement between both countries.
Ribeiro de Almeida said: “Europe, especially Portugal, is very interested in the high quality of Colombian agricultural products, which can be successfully established in several countries of the continent.”
There was no further mention of horse semen.
