A woman was killed in a horrific accident on railway lines near Santarém just before midday today.
The accident happened on the northern line, explains noticiasaominuto, and it appears the goods train was either going backwards or “making a manoeuvre” which must have taken the woman by surprise.
A source for CDOS emergency services said she was “completely mashed up” by the impact, and circulation on the line was shutdown.
Updates coming in suggest the woman was on the line as she was crossing from one platform to another.
For now there is no further information.
